World book day - a great time for self care

It’s #worldbookday today and I love that today is a celebration of reading. For me there is nothing better than losing myself in a book. I read real paper books and use digital platforms such as kindle and Perlego. Like many people I read at bedtime but I’ve also recently started to give myself an hour during the day to read fitting around my daytime schedule, (daytime schedule for me might mean finishing work at 9pm). I put it in my diary as an appointment so I don’t miss it. I tend to read academic books, journals or papers at some point during the day and novels at bedtime. I have a very long book list and piles of papers to read.

I see reading as an act of self care like going for a walk, exercising or meditation practice.
